“Pow·er – pouər” 1979

Power was commissioned for the exhibition The Avante Guarde: 12 in Atlanta at the High Museum of Art. The installation consisted of two adjoining chambers each with a white chair facing a repeating film projection on the opposite wall. Each projection was accompanied by a sound tape loop. The first projection was of a woman getting her hair cut short accompanied by historical quotes about women and their hair. The second projection was short clips of a porn film interspersed with questions like: Where does the power lie? who manipulates who?....
